Wildlife Walks

The wide variety of landscapes on the Estate provide habitats for a wealth of flora and fauna,  from the shoreline, to the woodland and the open moorland.  Red and Roe Deer, Golden and White Tailed Eagles, Otters and Pine Martens have all been seen at Laudale.

In order for you to stand the best chance of seeing these wonderful creatures and understanding the relationships between them, our Ghillies can offer ‘Wildlife Walks’. These can be tailored to suit your itinerary, but ideally last about half a day, they are a great way for younger members of a party to be introduced to this wonderful environment.

The walks can be arranged before or after lunch, alternatively, should the weather permit we can create a delicious picnic for you to enjoy wherever you are.

Diving

The waters of Loch Sunart are great for divers of all skill levels, providing great opportunities for drift dives and for exploring the rich underwater flora and maybe some of the elusive creatures that inhabit the Loch.  Further afield the West Coast of Scotland provides some of the best diving the UK has to offer.

The West Coast of Scotland and in particular the Sound of Mull, offer some of the best diving sites in the UK.  An area of outstanding beauty, the West Coast is regarded as one of the best areas to see basking sharks, it’s also home to porpoises, dolphins and whales. The Pennygowan Quarry, with its diagonally running rock strata, the Lochaline Pier and the Fuinary Rocks boast a wealth of underwater fauna including anemones, starfish, soft coral and sea fans, as well as a host of smaller marine life.

The Spirit of Scotland

No visit to Scotland would be complete without visiting a distillery, and perhaps, sampling the local product. Laudale is close to one of the newest and one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland.

The Ardnamurchan Distillery located on the shores of Loch Sunart opened in 2014 to begin production of world- class single malts. Producing 2 signature styles of whiskey, 1 ‘peated’ and 1 ‘unpeated’, matured in oak ex- sherry and American oak ex-bourbon casks until its ready to be drunk! For more information please see Adelphi Distillery

From one of Scotland’s newest distilleries, a short hop will take you Mull and one of the oldest commercial distilleries. The Tobermory Distillery has been in operation since 1798, producing 2 beautiful whiskies the fruity, unpeated ‘Tobermory’ and the smoky ‘Ledaig’. Both are distilled using unchilled filtration leading to a delicate cloudiness when mixed with water. For more information please see Tobermory Distillery

Chef Picnic

Dining at Laudale isn’t confined to the house. Our chef-prepared picnics can be set in the most breathtaking spots on and beyond the estate. This could be on the shoreline, tucked into ancient woodland or even afloat on the loch. Each picnic is created with the same commitment to exceptional ingredients and considered detail, transforming a simple meal into a memory woven with the sights, sounds and tastes of the Highlands.
